Appleton announced today that it has named Dave Murray, 46, managing director of BemroseBooth. BemroseBooth is a leading provider of “mission critical” secure and specialized print services and is based in Derby, United Kingdom, and is a subsidiary of Appleton. Murray will be responsible for developing and executing business plans and strategies that ensure the company's growth and profitability.

Murray succeeds Graham Bennington, 56, who in June announced his plans to retire from BemroseBooth. Murray's appointment is effective October 30 and he will report to Macdonald. Bennington is expected to retire by the end of November. Macdonald added, “We appreciate Graham's long career with BemroseBooth and his commitment to its employees. We thank him for the time he has given us to find his successor.”
Murray's management experience includes six years with Communisis, a UK-based print partner that serves the financial services, retail, government, telecommunications and utilities markets. He served as managing director of the company's personalized products division that included six manufacturing sites with combined annual sales of £135 million. He led the restructuring of the division's largest UK manufacturing site at Leeds that resulted in significant improvements to productivity, customer service and cost reduction. Murray also served as managing director of Communisis Security Products Division. His accomplishments included implementing Six Sigma methodologies to drive operational and profit improvements as well as cost reductions throughout the three-site operation.
Murray's career outside the print sector includes serving as managing director of Doncasters' Chard location, an operation that makes precision castings for the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. Murray completed a turnaround of that business by driving significant improvements to customer service and profitability.
He also worked as managing director of the Trucast Limited operation of Vickers plc that supplies nickel alloy turbocharger wheels to the automotive industry. Murray established a U.S. manufacturing site and created a team culture that drove service, productivity and profitability improvements throughout the division. Murray served as the managing director of Vickers Aerospace Components and Vickers Airmotive operations that supply high-value engine components to the aircraft and automotive industries. He introduced operational and organizational changes that improved profitability by over £2million in two years.
Murray is a member of the Chartered Institute of Electrical Engineers in the UK. He earned a master's degree in business administration from Cranfield University; a master's degree in physics from Salford University and a bachelor's degree in production engineering from Manchester Polytechnic. He has also earned a Six Sigma black belt.
