This year has certainly been one to remember for BemroseBooth Paragon. New appointments, an acquisition, award success and big contract wins have all helped to make 2017 one of the most successful in the company’s history.
The year started with the launch of our new premises in Boston, Lincolnshire. The centre of excellence opened in February and has given us the chance to make great headway and to expand our focus on RFID and NFC technologies.
In April, BBP’s workforce in Hull reached over 100 for the first time in our 191-year history. A growing workforce has meant that we can pursue larger contracts and place further emphasis on research and development. This has been pivotal to this year’s successes and highlights our commitment as a growing company that supports the mass transit sector.
June saw our acquisition of Burall InfoSmart, one of the only certified ITSO smart card suppliers in the country. This strategic acquisition has enabled us to launch our own ITSO approved products to support transport operators around the globe, reaffirming our position as the preferred partner for clients that are embarking on the transition from magnetic to smart ticketing.
General Manager, Andrew Jones joined us in August and became responsible for the day to day running of the company. Working hard to embed a five-year strategy into all that we do, Andrew’s experience has been welcomed. With a renewed focus on product innovation and improving the company’s work flow processes, we are well on the way to becoming the leading ticketing provider in the country.
The good news didn’t stop there, in October we announced that we had successfully extended our contract with the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) becoming a preferred partner to 2020. The contract, worth £14m, will see us work with RDG as it transitions from traditional paper tickets to smart and contactless products.
November rounded off what has been an excellent year for everyone at BBP. Our hard work throughout the year was recognised at the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards as we took to the stage to collect the trophy for the Turnaround category.
2018 is set to be no different as we start the year by attending the Transport Ticketing Global Conference. Here we will be exhibiting our products and services to industry professionals and market leaders across the mass transit sector.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who has contributed to what has been a fantastic year for BBP. Excellent results, expansion, hard work and exciting times ahead has seen 2017 being one of our best years on record. Our Christmas wishes go out to all our employees and clients as we look forward to what 2018 will deliver.
