As Burrell InfoSmart is an ITSO certified manufacturer of smart enabled products, so too is Paragon ID. This means that we are part of a membership that brings together local transport authorities, ticketing suppliers and bus and train operators to make multimodal transport simpler.
An ITSO smart card allows passengers throughout the UK to use a single card across any service that supports the certified products. By contributing to a system where contactless or RFID enabled cards are supported, we are able to work together to implement smart ticketing to make travel simpler and more convenient.
Paragon ID will remain at the forefront of the ticketing industry as the preferred methods of paying for travel change. ITSO certification has further endorsed our capability to manage the transition from traditional, magnetic tickets to smart cards solutions for an increasing number of customers.
Just one example of how we have worked with a customer would be the implementation of the Tripper Smart Card in Glasgow.
The Tripper Smart Card brings together different bus operators from across the city by creating a unified ticketing system, which allows commuters to easily hop on and off buses in the Glasgow Smart Zone, using the same method of payment throughout their journey.
John Wise, Technical Sales Director for Paragon ID, comments: “ITSO supports the smart ticketing industry by making the system convenient, flexible, quicker and easier to use. The benefits are transparent and not least that this approach makes public transport more accessible and user friendly.”
“Over 2 billion journeys have already been made using ITSO smart cards and 16.5 million of the certified smart cards are currently in circulation in the UK(1), these statistics demonstrate the scale of the market and the importance of holding the certification.”
